Arches National Park
On our 9-day road trip, we stopped in Arches National Park. In the midst of August, the temperatures were over 104 degrees making this the hottest stop of our trip. Arches National Park is located in Moab, Utah filled with rock formations, scenic drives, and several viewpoints. We spent two days exploring the park and taking in as much as we could!
We got to the park a few hours before dark so we were able to do a little exploring. Arches is perfect to take in through a scenic drive. After driving around for a bit, we stopped at the Panorama Point Picnic Area to make dinner. This also happens to be the perfect spot to take in the full glory of the dark sky park. Arches National Park officially became certified as an international dark sky park in 2019. We watched as the stars began to light up the night sky & temperatures dropped to slightly below 100 degrees.
On our second day of exploring we started bright and early, we wanted to get a jump on things before the temperature hit its peek. We started on our venture to Delicate Arch, this iconic arch is one of the most famous natural rock arches in the world. The hike to the arch can take 2-3 hours with little to no shade, so be prepared with plenty of water. The view is completely worth it, this is a must see at Arches!
With the temperatures rising higher and higher we decided to leave the park at the peak of the sunshine and go grab late lunch in the town. On our way out of the park we stopped off at a bunch of the scenic overlooks, took in the sights, and snapped a few photos. The escape from the heat was much needed and our legs were ready for a break! Later in the evening we came back to the park for a shorter hike and to watch the sunset.
We took a shorter hike when we got back to the park in the evening. Overall we go to take in a lot of the park & were able to make it to everything we wanted to see! The sunset was the perfect way to end our adventure at Arches National Park. It seriously looked like the sky was on fire with the oranges, pinks, and yellows mixing together. One of my favorite national parks I've been to so far, I would highly recommend visiting Arches National Park if you get the opportunity. You won't be disappointed!
